This past weekend I turned 30.
When I was in middle school and high school, I remember thinking that 30 was SO OLD. I thought life was just downhill from then on; what else was there to look forward to? Times (or I) have certainly changed! I am just getting started in life. Do kids today think 30 is old? My inclination is telling me No, since I have had SEVERAL kids under the age of 10 tell me 30 is not old. I guess I’ve talked about it a lot? But I will take that as a compliment.
These days, I couldn’t even put a number on what “old” is. I suppose now I only call someone “old” if they “act old” (READ – they are boring).
Is that a sign of old age in itself?
Well, here I am. 30….AND FABULOUS. Or at least my t-shirt says so :)
I actually already love 30. Going into it, I secretly was excited because I was always told that woman look their best in their 30’s….so bring it on! That and Mike and I hosted a party for our parents and siblings….which went quite well! We cooked and cleaned for an entire day…and spent A LOT of money…but it was worth every minute. Being that we are both 30, it was time we hosted something for our families :)
However, I have certainly learned the value of a potluck party….there’s a reason everyone does them :) Below are a few pictures from the party (note: there are very few pictures because it rained the first 45 minutes and we had to take all the patio decorations inside....it was supposed to be a patio party! Fortunately, the rain quickly went away and we spent the rest of the night outside):
This was just a few of the appetizers. Because there were so many apps....everyone had small portions for dinner....providing us with salmon/chicken/asparagus/mashed potatoes and salad leftovers all week long! When hosting a dinner party, I highly recommend this menu since it's so simple. Mashed potatoes were prepared ahead and warming in a crock-pot, salad was prepared ahead of time and the marinated chicken, salmon and asparagus were just popped into the oven prior to eating....it was so simple and we got to fully enjoy the party!
I wish I had pictures of the patio with all the banners up and the wine tasting activity set up :) I had jumped out of bed in the morning to decorate...and then it rained right as everyone came over, so we had to take it all inside quickly :( But everything still worked out great!
Next time I'll capture more pictures!
Have a great day!
